Root canal treatment is necessary when the infection reaches the pulp tissue and tooth, with consequent strong, chronic pain. To stop the infection, you must remove the diseased pulp, and then eliminate the microbes of the root canal system. The treatment involves the removal of contaminated tissues, the cleaning of the dental channels, their proper formation and the subsequent sealing with a biocompatible material.
The primary diagnostic method used in endodontics is professional radio-vision. Digital x-rays allow you to reduce the dose and reduce the exposure time to radiation.
Keeping precision and sterility is of utmost importance. The root canal system is treated with special nickel-titanium alloy tools. They allow you to clean thoroughly and fill very curved and narrow channels. In particularly difficult cases, when it comes to channels (overrun) or with broken instruments in the channels, we use endodontic ultrasonic instruments.
Before filling the channels, it is important to evaluate their length. For this purpose, we use electronic endometers. These devices allow you to precisely define the position of the vertex, determining the correct channel length and correct channel filling.
Great importance for the success of endodontic treatment is the type of material and the technique of filling channels. The most used filler is gutta-percha with sealing pads, which after heating becomes fluid and distributes evenly throughout the canal, even in the side channels.
