Beautiful, white and shiny teeth are the dream of each of us. Nothing improves beauty as well as a radiant smile. It is not always possible to correct what nature has given us.

However, there are broad possibilities for teeth whitening. We are able to apply the most modern methods available in the industry and your teeth will become clearly whiter.

It’s good to consider this as an actual aesthetic intervention because no home whitening treatment (toothpaste, lotions, gel), even after many months of treatment, can assure you that in just a few days the dentist can do it.

Causes for teeth discoloration

There are many causes of discoloration. The most common are age-related changes, consumption of coloring foods and beverages (eg coffee, tea, cola), smoking cigarettes. Changes in the color of the teeth can also be caused by traumas, degeneration of the dental nerve and genetic conditions. Likewise, taking tetracycline or excess fluoride during tooth formation can cause permanent discoloration.

What Is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening consists in the clarification of stains and the discoloration of enamel and dentin. Gentle solutions are applied in this process with thin plastic applicators placed on the teeth. They are designed individually for each patient. During the decomposition of the active whitening gel component contained within the applicators, oxygen releases into the enamel and dentin in order to obtain the desired whitening process.

It is important to note that the structure of the teeth does not change during the course of the treatment, only the color of the teeth. This means that the bleaching obtained with this method, naturally performed under the care of a dentist, is completely safe for the teeth and gums. Many dentists consider it the safest of today’s dental cosmetic treatments.

No side effects due to whitening have been identified, although some patients complain of cold-sensitive teeth during treatment. These symptoms disappear within 1-3 days after discontinuation or abbreviation of the treatment.

However, we do not recommend teeth whitening to pregnant women and nursing mothers. There are no studies on possible side effects of the preparation on developing baby or maternal womb.

Who Can Benefit from Teeth Whitening?

Except for the above-mentioned cases of pregnancy and lactation, there are no contraindications for teeth whitening. However, there are patients where desired results are not achieved. It depends on the individual circumstances of the body. They are evaluated by the dentist on the basis of oral exams and in-depth diagnosis of teeth color. If it is found that the teeth do not qualify for bleaching, another solution will be proposed.

Consequences

The effects of whitened teeth using the methods of our clinic are visible after 2-3 nights of treatment. However, maximum results are obtained after about 2 weeks. The tones of white varies according to the structure of the teeth and the whitening time. For example, in darker areas caused by antibiotics use, the time may be longer.

The whitening effect is permanent (the teeth will be whiter than before the treatment), but some organisms tend to deteriorate the color of the teeth. You can repeat whitening once or twice a year, this time only for 1-2 days. To keep the most beautiful teeth, avoid coloring substances such as coffee, tea, red wine or tobacco.
